An early map of Provence, engraved in 1594 from Pierre-Jean de Bompar's map of 1591, with strapwork cartouches for title and scale. Ortelius's version was first published in the 1595 'Additamentum', a collection of 17 new maps not in the previous edition of the 'Theatrum Orbis Terrarum'. This example was issued in the full atlas, published later the same year.
