A scarce locally-published plan of Liverpool, with an inset elevation of the Custom House, which wasn't completed until 1839. Across the map is engraved the 'Line of the proposed Tunnel of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway for Passengers', opened 1836 Under the map is a 'Geometrical Sectional View of the Line of Docks'. On the left is a key listing the docks; on the right a 'Reference to Churches, Chapels & Schools' lists a vast array of religious persuasions, including four branches of Methodism, Unitarians, Sandemanians, Baptists, Friends and Jews.
