A double-hemisphere world map, featuring California as an island, the partial outlines of Australia and New Zealand half-a-century before Cook, and Japan with a huge peninsula 'Jedso'.
Around the border are astronomical diagrams, terrestrial and celestial globes, an armillary sphere, putti with surveying instruments, and geographical phenomenon including volcanoes, whirlpools, waterspouts, sunset and a rainbow.
