The upper two-thirds of this plate is a plan of Jerusalem in classical times presented as an aerial view, based on Villalpando, with a 47-point key. Underneath is a prospect of the city in contemporary times, based on Merian, ignoring the Ottoman presence: thus the Dome of the Rock is called the Temple of Solomon.
