An unusual miniature map of Africa, only naming a few physical features, for example the Nile and Niger rivers, the Mountains of the Moon and the Sahara Desert.
It was published in the 'Description de l'Univers', a five-volume work by Mallet (1630-1706), a military engineer, cartographer and mathematician in the service of the French King, Louis XIV.
